There
are dozens
of different kinds of disasters - both natural and man-made. They
may affect a small area, a city, a region, or even an entire nation.
Every disaster that happens differs from every other disaster that
has occured before it, but several facts remain the same for disaster.
They are unpredictible in both occurrance and outcome. They also
bring immediate danger to communities, oftentimes causing loss of
life. Lastly, their effects can be reduced if individuals and communities
have a safety plan of action, and can efficiently execute that plan
of action, should it be called for.

Planning for a disaster may take
a little time, education, and money, but the rewards are priceless.
There a lot of little details that need to be considered before
one finds themselves and their families in the midst of a full blown
disaster. By preparing supplies, forming emergency plans, and creating
checklists, one will better be able to gather their thoughts immediately
following a disaster. Rather than trying to accumulate supplies
that may be scarce when a community is in disaster mode, and trying
to organize an evacuation plan as the disaster is taking place,
be prepared. The thought of disaster is a difficult one to imagine,
but lives and property can be saved by some simple planning and
preparation.
Please
take some time and view our disaster planning pages. They are filled
with vital tips on how to prepare and survive a disaster. There
are also lists of items for preparing your own emergency kit.
